Lab 1: Dynamics I (In development)

In this lab we will be using a program called "xppaut" (G.B. Ermentrout, U.Pitt. Math. Dept.) to numerically integrate ordinary differential equation models of various phenomena. For a web based tutorial:

xppaut Tutorial Program for dynamical system analysis

The program has very broad applications which we will not explore here. Instead we shall be interested more in demonstrating lecture concepts on some of the following models:

Burster Model Model to demonstrate various complex oscillations
Burst Model Fast Subsystem Fast Subsystem of model above
Chay-Cook 88 Model of electrical activity in pancreatic beta cells
Chay-Cook 88 (FS) Fast subsystem of model above
Hodgkin Huxley 52 Model of electrical activity in squid giant axon
Morris Lecar (FS) Model of electrical activity in barnacle muscle fiber
FitzHugh Nagumo Model of excitable system
