Professor Sharp's research interests include understanding children's construction of knowledge about fraction operations, with particular emphasis on division and developing lessons that celebrate culture and enhance mathematics teaching and learning. She has published in the Journal of Educational Research, Teaching Children Mathematics, and the NCTM Yearbook (1998, 2002).
