Professor Andersen was interested in the appropriate use of technology for simulation and modelling in the mathematics classroom K-16, and in the preservice training of mathematics teachers, working with minority groups. He was formerly the mathematics co-director of the NSF funded Systemic Teacher Excellence Project (STEP), a national collaborative for teacher preparation and early career support.
