TI-92 Help -- Entering a Program

Suppose that you want to use a function like the function

Missing equation

This can be done in several ways. One way is by using the TI-92 when construction. Another way is by entering a program. In this module we discuss how to define a function like this by entering a program. Although it is not necessary to resort to writing a program in this situation it is a good example of how to enter a program.
From the HOME screen press APPS. You should see the menu shown at the right. Missing screen
Use the cursor pad to arrow down until the selection Program Editor is highlighted. Then use the cursor pad to arrow right to see the submenu shown on the right. This submenu gives you three choices.
  • Open the current program -- the one you are currently working on.

  • Open another program -- one that is already in your TI-92.

  • Start work on a new program

Since this is a new program. Use the cursor pad to arrow down to New and press ENTER. You should see the screen shown on the right. Missing screen
The TI-92 provides the capability of writing two types of programs -- programs and functions. Since we want to write a function, select Function from the Type submenu as shown in the screen on the right. Missing screen
Next name the function as shown in the screen on the right. Missing screen
Now type in a program defining the function r(p). See, for example, the program on the right.

When you are done entering your program, press green-diamond HOME to return to the HOME screen. Your program will be saved. You can edit the program as described above by selecting Current rather than New when you enter the Program Editor application.

You can use the function you have just defined just like any other function.
