Viewed from a vantage point far away in the direction i this scene looks like the picture above. We see only the j and k components of the force and the rod. Notice that the vector j or the positive y-axis is pointing to the right and vector k or the positive z-axis is pointing upward. Thus, from this vantage point the force is represented by the vector (v, w) and is acting on the rod represented by the vector (b, c) and, thus, the torque is
