The screen below illustrates how the TI-92 can be used to look for 2-cycles of a dynamical system
p(n) = f(p(n - 1))
by looking for solutions of the equation
f(f(p)) = p
In this particular example the equation has four solutions. The first two show immediately but the second two don't fit on the screen. We pressed ENTER a second time and then used the cursor pad to show the second two solutions.
The TI-92 can also help locate 2-cycles roughly by graphing the functions
