                                                  Geometric Series

The cell below illustrates how the Mathematica  procedure  Sum  can be used to evaluate a geometric series.  Evaluate it now.  Notice that this procedure has two arguments.  The first argument is an expression describing the terms in the sum.  The second argument is a list of three arguments enclosed in curly brackets and separated by commas.  The first of these three arguments is the name of the variable used to label the terms, the second is the starting value of this variable, and the third is the last value of this variable.
