Frank's Ripple Tank Applet

If this applet stops press the RELOAD button for your browser.

Thus applet shows three ripple tanks. The ripple tank on the left has a single wave source whose location is marked by a white dot and whose x and y coordinates are indicated below the tank. You can change the location of this source by clicking at its new location in the ripple tank. The ripple tank in the center has a single wave source whose location is marked by a white dot and whose x and y coordinates are indicated below the tank. You can change the location of this source by clicking at its new location in the ripple tank. The ripple tank on the right has two sources, marked by white dots located at the same points as the two sources in the other two ripple tanks. Each of the three ripple tanks has a float in the same location marked by a green dot. The x and y coordinates of the float are given below the right ripple tank. You can change the location of the float in all three ripple tanks by clicking at its new location in the ripple tank on the right.

Each of the three bars at the right indicate the height of the float in the corresponding ripple tank. Notethat when this applet starts the float in the right ripple tank is not moving because the two waves cancel each other out at its location.
