The Department maintains a networked UNIX system comprised of a Sun Fire V880 8-processor server, several Sun Blade servers and a myriad of other Sun workstations. Sun Ray terminals and workstations distributed in computer laboratories and offices provide access to the system and are available to faculty and students 24 hours a day. The department has one UNIX based computer classroom and one PC based computer classroom. Several PC's are also housed in computer laboratories and offices. The university also operates and maintains a wireless network for people with laptops.

In addition to the departmental equipment, general use computing facilities at Montana State University are maintained by the Information Technology Center.
