Procedure for Reporting Written Comp. Exam Results to DGE

  1. Once a student has passed the three required components, a pass of the written comprehensive exam is reported to DGE.
  2. A first failure of the written comprehensive exam is reported to DGE if the student has not passed two components after the Year 2 August Examination period.
  3. If after the Year 3 August exam period the student cannot possibly pass three exam components by retaking and passing exactly one previously failed component in the Year 3 January intersession, then a second failure of the written comprehensive exam is reported to DGE at the start of their 3rd Fall enrolled.
  4. If a student has not passed the three required components after the Year 3 January intersession, a second failure of the written comprehensive exam is reported to DGE.

Note to students: Given the way we report failures to DGE it is extremely ill-advised to attempt Reals and Complex for the first time in Year 3. It is also extremely ill-advised to take less than two components in Year 2.
