NOTE to others: If you are looking at this thesis 'style', you need: (from this directory) *.tex (really just thesis.tex but I would grab the rest as 'samples') (from ~griff/tex) thesis.bib (if you are going to use bibtex - recomended) phdreport.cls (main style file) mystyle.sty (not much in here- but adjust your top margin for gauss compiling - see comments) thesis.tex is the main file with all the includes, comment out or delete what you don't want. To latex: >latex thesis >bibtex thesis (if you ever change references) (two more latex thesis) %######################################## I use a cheat using the part() to add in appendices - and the cheat currently adds appendices before the references (msu want them after) I never fixed the caps for chapters, as such you need to type them in all in caps. I use the closeme script to bring modified files to my floppy to bring home. It just copies the files modified in the last 2 days (unless you specify the number of days: >closeme 10 ; would cp those modified in the last ten days) Apr *#*#*#*#*#*#*#*#*#*#*#*#*#*#*##* To generate PDF file use: >dvips -Ppdf thesis -o thesis.ps followed by >ps2pdf thesis.ps this doesn't seem to work anymore >pdflatex thesis.tex ****** for some silly reason the fonts don't work right with dvipdf %%%%%%%%%%%%%% sometime you need to try pdf2text.
