Stephen in the Lab

Moses Obiri is pursuing a PhD in Statistics at MSU.   His research interest includes the broad area of experimental design, and specifically, the area of space-filling designs. He is currently working on the development of statistical methodology and design generating algorithms for a combined mixture/process variable experiment.  These interests compliment Moses Obiri's hands-on learning while working in Dr. Stephen Sofie's lab (Mechanical Engineering).
Catherine Potts is earning her PhD in Mathematics at MSU under advisement from Dr. Dominique Zosso.  She completed her MS in Mathematics in 2013 at Western Washington University.  Her research interests include Geometric Data Analysis, applications of Machine Learning and Optimization, as well as Imaging problems. She is a co-founder and Director of Rocky Mountain Data Science (https://rmds.tech/), a MSU club that puts on data science workshops for the MSU community.  Catherine Potts is working with Dr. Anja Kunze, Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, in her Neuroengineering Research Laboratory.
Stephen Walsh earned his MS in Statistics from MSU in 2007, and has returned for his PhD in Statistics.  His academic advisor is Dr. John Borkowski.  For his undergraduate education, Stephen Walsh attended Montana Tech and earned his BS in Mathematics.  In between his undergraduate and graduate careers, Stephen Walsh's work involved both national and international problems, which included environmental sampling and remediation; interpreting sensor data; and applied applications in quality control and experimental design in the nuclear industry.  Stephen is working in Dr. Roberta Amendola's lab in the Mechanical and Industrial Engineering Department.

Affiliates:

Headshot of Temitope Benson

Temitope Benson

Temitope Benson is a second year graduate student at MSU focusing on his MS in Applied Mathematics, working with the guidance of Dr. Lisa Davis as his academic advisor.  Temitope Benson was born and raised in the south-west part of Nigeria, where he attended the University of Ibadan, Nigeria. He is interested in Numerical Analysis and Scientific Computing, Mathematical Biology, Analysis and Partial Differential Equations.

Headshot of David Lartey

David Lartey

David Lartey came to MSU in 2016 to pursue his MS in Statistics degree after completing his undergraduate degree in Statistics from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Kumasi, Ghana. He is pursuing a PhD in Statistics and working with advisor, Dr. John Borkowski.  His research interests include Designed experiments and Time series data analysis.

Headshot of Ben Moldstad

Ben Moldstad

Ben Moldstad is currently in his second year of the Master's program in Mathematics at MSU. He did his undergraduate degree at Bethany Lutheran College in southern Minnesota. Ben Moldstad's mathematical interests include topology and data science.  His graduate advisor is Dr. Lisa Davis.
