Flynn Murray

William is working with Dr. Mark Jankauski in the Mechanical and Industrial Engineering Department.  He is using a model reduction technique (SEREP) to study flapping wing flight in the hawkmoth, Manduca sexta.  Biomaterials such as insect wings provide interesting examples of how flexible wings use sensed information from mechanoreceptors, wing deformation and aerodynamic forces  to perform complex flight maneuvers.  The work combines modeling and simulation techniques with sensor placement for lab experiments.

Meaghan is working with Flynn Murray and Mike Berry in the Civil Engineering Department to test the flexural and tensile strength of 3D printed plastics and how those change based on different printer options. She has helped with the design of the experiment, and they have just recently wrapped up the testing portion; Meaghan is currently working on fitting a response surface to each of the responses of interest.

Headshot of Kenny Ajayi

Kehinde "Kenny" Ajayi

Completing his undergraduate career in Mathematics and Statistics from the University of Lagos in Nigeria, Kenny entered the Master's Program in Statistics at MSU in 2018.  Kenny previously worked as a data analyst with Havillah Consults where his job included data entry, data cleansing and data mining.  Currently, he is a teaching assistant in statistics.  Kenny spent the Fall Semester observing experimental techniques in Jim Wilking's lab which is located in the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering and the Center for the Biofilm Engineering.

Headshot of Quinn Anderson

Quinn Anderson

Quinn came into the Mathematics Master's Program at MSU after finishing her BS in Mathematics from Gonzaga University.  She graduated cum laude.  Quinn's interests include modeling macroeconomic data using mathematical and statistical modeling, applying numerical optimization problems in fields other than mathematics, and how mathematical and statistical data affects economic decisions.  Working with another MT PEAKS fellow, Moses Obiri, Quinn learned much in Dr. Stephen Sofie's lab (Mechanical Engineering).

Ethan Romary

Ethan began pursuing his Master's Degree in Mathematics at Montana State University in 2018.  He began is academic career at the University of Nebraska with a focus in a Mathematics Major taking the research experience option.  Ethan applied to the MT Peaks program as he in interested in using mathematics in an applied sense, as much of his work is in the theoretical realm.

Filler Pic for Rachel Ulrich

Rachel Ulrich

Rachel selected the Master's Degree in Statistics Program at MSU after finishing an undergraduate degree in Anthropology  with a minor in Russian from the University of Kentucky.  Rachel is a research assistant in the Spatial Sciences Lab on this campus and she is also a research assistant/project mentor at Dordt University.

Headshot of Tyler Taylor

Tyler Taylor

Tyler entered the Master's Program in Statistics at MSU after finishing two undergraduate degrees from Montana Tech in Mathematics and Statistics.  His high school and college careers have included multiple teaching and mentoring opportunities as well as volunteer work within the community.  During the Fall Semester of 2019, Tyler participating in Dr. Connie Chang's Chang Soft Matter and Microfluidics Lab.  This lab is multidisciplinary, highly collaborative and encompasses engineering, materials, physics, chemistry, and biology.
