Are you getting what you should from doing homework?

Students who don't do the homework usually do very poorly on exams. Homework is apparently necessary. However, it is more necessary for you than it is for your instructor. You do homework to assess yourself. If you can do homework from memory, without looking up how to do it, then you know you learned what you were supposed to learn. If there are homework problems you don't know how to do, then you have found out what you need to study.

Unfortunately, some students seem to think the point of homework is "to get it done" so the credit will be awarded for doing it. No. Homework is part of a feedback loop of self-assessment. Pay attention to the feedback about what you don't know and put extra effort into learning it.
