new, minor:  Section 3.5, page 163, line 3 of Example 8:  This is calculation problem -> This is a calculation problem

new, minor:  Section 3.2, page 125, Figure 2:  The x-interval should be [-.5, .5], not  [-5, 5]
page 133, line 11 from the end  "solution as number" -> "solution as a number".
new:  Section 2.3, page 95, Theorem 2-3-8, second line: " if and only if xn = c1/n " should be "if and only if x = c1/n " with no superscript n.
new:  Section 2.3, page 96, two lines above Theorem 2-3-10:  (x-1)3  should be  (x-1)3

Typesetting errors in the text and in the solution manual (below):

Fix your text now.

Text:
Section 1.2, page 19. problem B34 should list  3 1/2 next to 3(1/2), not 3(1/2) twice.
Section 1.5, page 44, Figure 7 is a tiny bit off. The diagonal line should go precisely through the origin.
Section 1.5, page 51, Example 7.  The second square root should have a negative sign in front of it.
Section 1.6, page 62, problem A7:  has a left parenthesis, but no right parenthesis. It was intended to say "5 - ln x2 = 0"  but did not come close!  The answer is the same either way:  Inverse-reverse.
Section 2.1, page 77, Figure for B26,28,30:  The label (-5, -5) in the second quadrant should be (-5, 5).
Section 3.2, page 131, in Theorem 3.2.7, line 2, the large parentheses on the right should have a negative sign in front of them.
                    page 131, Example 6, line 5:  x2 - 5x = 3  should be x2 + 5x = 3.
page 138, B10:  It lasts the superscript 2 on the "x" term, so it is not a quadratic!  x  ->  x2
Section 4.1, page 201, A1:  x3, x4, and x3   should be     x3, x4 and x5
page 201, A7(A)  is fine, but the answer manual answers it as if it were something else. The answer to this one is "2x".
Section 4.2, page 217, B2 (a)  x0 should be xn
Section 4.3, page 232, HW B19: The 7.2 should be 7/2.
HW B24 should all be on one line, so the (1 - x)-1/4  factor multiplies the factor with x5/3.
Section 4.6, page 267, Example 2, revisited:  x2 - 2x - 3 should be x2 - 2x < 3.
Example 3, line 2: "The is"     should be     "There is"
Section 4.6, page 275:  Theorem on Absolute Values, part B:  The |x| < c should be |x| > c. (As in Figure 14B).

Section 5.1, page 295, HW B3 has 1/12 which should be t/12.
Section 5.2, page 303, Table 5-2-4:  in (5-1-1) on the left side, it says 10x+y and that should be ex+y
in (5-1-2C) on the right side  it has log where it should have ln, twice.
Section 5.2, page 310, problem B18. The answer in brackets should be 3.8, not 3.4.
Section 5.3, page 313, second last line.  log(a) = 3.8.   (The period after the 8 and before the next a is missing)
Section 6.2, page 356, Example 18, line 3 at the end of the line it says 78.46o and should say -78.46o.
Section 6.4, page 388, figure for B16.  The 43 degree angle should be off of a N-S line. The line has a slight tilt (in error) and is missing the "N" for north.
Section 7.1, B19 has the answer in the text [.93]. That is wrong. It is correct in the solution manual. In the text it should say [1.6].
Section 7.3, pages 428-9:  page 428, last line, the term with (sin α)(cos β) should be (sin α)(sin β). This mistake is repeated three more times on page 429:  in the first line and the last two offset lines of that page.
Section 7.3, page 430.  For questions B2 and B3 it should say "In the figure on the next page" instead it says "In the figure next page."

Solution manual:

Section 4.1, A7(A) has the wrong answer. It should be 2x. [They forgot the parentheses to group the top and the bottom.]
Section 5.3.  The solution-manual answer labeled "B15" is to the text's B19 and B15 is not answered. Similarly, "B17" answers B21 and "B19" answers B23 in the text.
