Robert Boik, retired Professor of Statistics, Montana State University - Bozeman, was named Fellow of the American Statistical Association on August 4, 2009, during the annual awards ceremony at the Joint Statistical Meetings in Washington, DC. The official citation states,

The American Statistical Association is a scientific and educational society founded in 1839, making it one of the oldest professional societies in the United States. The ASA is a nonprofit organization and achieves its objectives by conducting meetings, producing publications devoted to statistical methodology and its applications, and making available information concerning the science of statistics and its contributions.
