Minutes of the 1998 Annual Meeting
October 2, 1998

The meeting was called to order by President, Jim Robison-Cox.
Election for the Chapter Officers was held. The results were, by unanimous vote:

The Sec/Treasurer position is for 2 years. Susan Hinkins agreed to serve the second year but not longer than the 2 years. She suggested that it would make sense for the Treasurer's position to run on the calendar year, since the financial reports to ASA are on a calendar year basis. Marty Hamilton proposed that the executive committee should propose a change in the by-laws to make the Sec/Treasurer a calendar year position, if necessary.

The balance at the end of 1997 was $1,252.75. The balance as of Sept. 25, 1998 is $1,253.49.
John Borkowski gave his report as Chapter Representative. There is a new list of video short courses available, via email. There is (or will be?) an electronic mailing list for ASA; we should be able to download the addresses for MT ASA members. Starting in 2005, 75% of the Joint Statistical Meetings will be held in the Northern US or Canada. ASA pamphlets are available (ASA Series "What is a Survey?").
There was a brief discussion regarding the planning of next year's meeting. For MSU and UM faculty and students, Tuesday is the preferred day of the week.
