Tentative Office Hours: MTh 2 PM, TF 10 AM (others by appt.)
Textbook: Basic Multivariable Calculus by Marsden, Tromba and
Weinstein
Pre-requisites: MATH 182
Grading: There will be three tests and a final exam. Each test
will be graded on a 100 -point scale. The final exam will be scaled out
of 200 points. The final exam is cumulative, but the focus of the exam
will be the most recent material covered in class. Homework will be
assigned but not collected as a unit. Instead, we will discuss several of
these problems in class, and quiz problems will be taken directly from
the assigned homework problems. Quizzes will be announced and administered
in the classroom. I strongly suggest that you keep a
folder consisting of class notes and completed homework assignments.
The table given below shows the number of points reserved for each of
the categories mentioned above
along with the total number of possible points you can
earn during the course. Your final grade will be determined by the
percentage of total points that you earn. Earning at least 90%
of the points will guarantee
a score of A- or better, 80 - 89% guarantees a B- or better, 70 - 79%
guarantees a C- or better and 60 - 69% guarantees D- or better.
Tentative Test Dates: Oct. 1 , Oct. 26 and Nov. 16
Final Exam: Tuesday, December 14 , 4:00-5:50PM
General: I reserve the option of modifying these policies where
I see appropriate as the course develops.
