Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are Meadows and hills for all of our special freinds so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who have been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together ...

Once upon a time, I was brought to a quiet little home in Bozeman. I had a sister to play with and a family to take care of me. Life was good. Then my family had to move. My neighbor wanted to take my sister and me so we moved next door to live with him. My sister liked her new home and seldom went outside to play. I wanted to go back to my first home so I jumped the fence into my old yard to play and look for my family.

One day, a very nice lady came to my old home and I jumped up on
the front porch to greet her. She sat down on the porch to pet me. I
could tell she liked me. She looked at the tag on my collar and
called me by my name, Mikey. Then she read the rest of the tag and
could see by the address that this was my home! There was a man
watching through the screen door from inside my house. He was very
confused by the tag on my collar. I was purring so loud I didn't
hear much but I think I heard the man say:"... cat will never come in
THIS house ..." It didn't sound good but I was so happy to be on my
own front porch with someone to pet me.
I watched for the nice lady for the next few days. I took my
afternoon naps on the front porch and looked inside the screen door
often. Whenever she came outside, I was there to greet her. I liked
her very much and hoped she would let me in my house. The man would
pet me but I could tell he didn't like me as much as she did. I tried
to sneak in the house a few times but I never made it inside.
