The map on the right contains weather reports from seven cities in the state of Montana, and one city in the state of North Dakota.  Use the map to answer the following questions about the weather in these cities.  You may need to use another map to find the city names of each of the weather stations represented in the map.  Note:  Make sure you label each of your answers properly!
 
 
1) What is the temperature in Kalispell?

68 degrees

2) What is the dew point temperature in Billings?

48 degrees

3) What is the barometric pressure in Miles City?

4) What is the wind speed and direction in Great Falls?

between 3 and 7 knots, and in a west southwesterly direction

5) Which city has the highest temperature?  The lowest temperature?

Kalispell, 68 degrees.  Bozeman, 54 degrees.

6) In which two cities is it raining?  How hard is it raining in each city?

Bozeman and Williston, ND.  It is moderately raining.

7) In which city is the wind blowing the hardest?  What direction and speed is it blowing?

Havre, the wind is blowing northwesterly, between 13-17 knots

8) The winds in southern Montana are basically blowing in an __________ direction.

westerly direction

9) What is the cloud condition across the state of Montana?

Mostly overcast, with Kalispell having scattered clouds and Havre and Glascow having broken clouds

10) Helena, Montana, is not represented on this map.  Find Helena on another map.  Then, from its location and the weather map above, decide what the weather would be like in Helena during this day.  Include all of the following:
a) Temperature
b) Dew point temperature
c) Cloud cover
d) Wind speed
e) Wind direction

Actual conditions in Helena: temperature was 57 degrees, dew point 45 degrees, under overcast skies winds from the west southwest between 3-7 knots.  Students will probably be close to this, but not exact.
