Testing:

Tests and quizzes are designed to determine your individual knowledge. You MAY NOT, IN ANY WAY, WORK TOGETHER on tests or quizzes. Cheating will be dealt with most severely. My definition of "cheating" includes (but is not limited to) the following:

          * looking at someone else's paper, or allowing others
	    to look at your paper while testing
	  * accessing outside information from any source, including:
	      - other students
	      - any electronic device
	      - notes brought into the test by you or others

If you have a documented disability for which you are or may be requesting accomodations, please notify me and Disabled Student Services immediately. Any alternate testing must be arranged with me at least one week in advance of the test.

Grading:

There will be 11 quizzes given throughout the semester, each graded out of 10 points possible. The quiz dates are on the syllabus, and any changes to the syllabus will be announced in class.
Selected homework problems will be graded/checked most Mondays. The "Minimum Preparation" box on the webpage will notify you of when and what homework will be graded. Each day it is collected, you will earn zero points (if you are absent when it is collected), one point (if you have done the problem, but it is incorrect or unclear) or two points (for a complete AND neat solution). You will have 20 possible points of homework by the end of the semester. Those points will be recorded as 2 ten-point scores. I encourage you to form study groups and work together when doing homework.
There will likely be opportunities for minimal extra credit throughout the semester. Extra credit frequently comes from doing what is suggested in the "Minimum Preparation" box on the main webpage.
At the end of the semester, I will drop your 3 lowest scores from quizzes and/or homework. Because of this, don't count on turning your work in late or receiving make-up options.
